About the Show

SPONTANEOUS PRODUCTIONS in association with KIRKDALE BOOKSHOP presents:

The very best short plays and sketches by THE BROTHERS KAUFMAN

It’s back – the brand even a People’s Vote couldn’t kill off! Ocelot Gymkhana was a series of short play and sketch nights staged by Spontaneous Productions between 2009-2013. Showcasing the comically surreal and quirky stylings of the Brothers Kaufman, each Ocelot show had its diehard fans – and detractors. Now, after a well-earned five year hiatus, the Brothers are reviving their pick of the best pieces, dusting them down, giving them a new lease of life, and occasional mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to entertain, bamboozle, confuse and possibly outrage those of a sensitive nature. Welcome to the weird and wonderful world of the Brothers Kaufman!

  • SWEETS
A park bench. A man on a mission. Can you remember the scent of parma violets?
  • EVENING CLASSES
Lorna just wants to stretch herself – so can she find a suitable course or will it all end in tears?
  • THE MANAGING DIRECTOR
He must be obeyed. But just suppose you could stand up to him and his beady black eyes?
  • THE CHAVS AND THE SHOEMAKER
The Brothers Grimm gets a contemporary re-write. Who says fairy tales should have happy endings?
  • “101”
Luke just wants to write a play. But will the characters let him get own way this time?
  • HERMAN
A lonely woman in bed. A household robot. Surely nothing can go wrong?
  • LIP
Kids today, what can you do? Time for teacher to put the record straight…
  • EDGE OF DANGER
Stood on the top of the cliffs, perhaps not the best place to contemplate a bleak future…
  • THE CRUNCH
It’s the last day of trading for high street favourite Silkworths – can the manager help sweeten the deal?
  • THE INTERPRETER
The award-winning play about a high-stakes summit gets a Trumpian twist. Missiles?!
  • DRUGS WAY? NO WAY!
The Theatre-in-Education show to end all Theatre-in-Education shows. Altogether now: Drugs Way? No Way!
