HJALMAR NORDÉN

Associate producer / performer / choreographer / technical director

Hjalmar, a graduate of musical theatre from Lund, Sweden, joined the theatre company in 2017, making his debut in Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Since then, he has appeared in or contributed to 27 productions, showcasing his versatility as a performer and choreographer. In 2021, he was promoted to associate producer, cementing his commitment to the company.

Hjalmar’s notable contributions to the company include directing Anansi the Spider: Jamaican Superhero! and delivering memorable performances such as Hans Christian Andersen (The Little Mermaid/The Snow Queen), Lewis Carroll, The Caterpillar, and the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland, the Wolf in Three Little Pigs Go West and Little Red Riding Hood: the Truth, and Phileas Fogg in Around the World in Eighty Days.

After his triumphant performance as Wilhelm Grimm and Rumpelstiltskin in the company’s most recent Christmas panto, The Blues Brothers Grimm, Hjalmar took a sabbatical to pursue studies in medicine and perform abroad. However, his return to the Sydenham stage is eagerly anticipated. Hjalmar’s passion, creativity, and versatility make him a valuable asset to the company, and his future contributions are eagerly awaited.

JACKIE POULETT

Associate producer / costume designer / operations manager

Jackie is a highly skilled freelance costume designer who joined the Spontaneous team in 2017, designing costumes for The Snowman and the Christmas Fairy. Since then, she has created costumes for more than 20 productions, including Cinderella, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Pinocchio, The Snow Queen, The Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor, Puss in Boots, The Gingerbread Man, Animal Farm, Around the World in Eighty Days, Beauty and the Beast, Little Red Riding Hood: The Truth!, END OF!, The Tales of Beatrix Potter, Rapunzel, Frighteners 2022: Museum of Monsters, and The Blues Brothers Grimm.

In recognition of her contributions to the company, Jackie was promoted to operations manager in 2021 and associate producer in 2022. Jackie is passionate about creating amazing costumes on a shoestring budget and loves the challenge of a new show. Her creativity and attention to detail have made her an invaluable member of the team, and her work will be featured in the upcoming production of Aladdin.

Whether working on a classic fairy tale or a contemporary production, Jackie’s talent for designing imaginative and memorable costumes shines through. Her dedication and passion for her craft make her an essential member of the Spontaneous team, and her work continues to be a highlight of each production.
