About the Show

Part of Refugee Week 16-22 June 2025
A theatrical evening of storytelling by refugees and migrants in Lewisham

Featuring the women’s choir from Lewisham Refugee & Migrant Network and Ukrainian folk songs by members of New Arrivals Support group.

Last year, as part of Refugee Week, Sydenham-based theatre company Spontaneous Productions staged HOME FROM HOME – celebrating Lewisham becoming the first Borough of Sanctuary. Through music and spoken word we shared true life stories written and performed by refugees who had made their home in the borough. The sell out performance was one of the highlights of its 2024 programme.

Now with support from Lewisham’s NCIL fund, we have partnered again with Lewisham Refugee & Migrant Network (LRMN), inviting a wide range of participants to share their stories, through theatre, music, spoken word and visual arts – culminating in a performance at The Sydenham Centre on Fri 20 June. We are also hoping to stage a version of the performance at The Albany on Sat 21 June, part of LRMN’s event “Power of Community: Refugee Week 2025” (event details will be updated here soon.)

Through a series of creative workshops, led by experienced theatre makers Christine Bacon and Sophie Robinson, those taking part will share their unique perspectives and their incredible stories of upheaval, joy and discovery.

Featuring performances from LRMN’s women’s group choir, Ukrainian folk songs by the New Arrival Support Group, and spoken word artists and actors, No Place Like Home will engage, provoke and inspire – giving voice to those not previously heard, celebrating our common humanity through theatre, storytelling, music and visual arts, and reminding us of our shared values, in an increasingly fragile world.
