Stage and screenwriting workshops
A course of 18 fortnightly sessions over 3 terms. Suitable for aspiring scriptwriters of all levels of experience. Over 16s only.
The course will be led by facilitator and tutor Jonathan Kaufman, a highly experienced and qualified teacher of English, scriptwriting and creative writing. It explores the techniques of scriptwriting, both for stage and screen, through in-session writing and homework tasks.
Full price: £12 per session (payable upfront @ £72)

Term 1: From Page to Stage
Covers the basics of story, dramatic action and structure, character creation, dialogue, subtext, stage craft and play formatting. Writers will read extracts from classic and contemporary plays.
Term 2: From Small Screen to Big Screen
Covers the basics of screenwriting, including visual storytelling, screenplay formatting, the classic Hollywood 3-act structure, film language, character creation, genre, subtext and television script formats. Writers will read extracts from existing teleplays & screenplays, watch relevant film and TV clips.
Term 3: From First Draft to Last
Covers the essentials of editing and rewriting, script polishing, strengthening and developing character, improving dialogue, sharpening storytelling techniques and writing synopses and outlines. Writers will produce a polished piece of either stage or screenwriting.
Each term will culminate in a rehearsed reading of original scripts to an invited audience.
