Volunteering with Spontaneous is about being part of and creating something together for the community — not having all the answers. We’re so very glad you’re here!
Do I need any previous theatre or volunteering experience?
No — absolutely not.
Many of our volunteers are new to theatre or volunteering altogether. What matters most is being friendly, reliable, and open to getting involved. We’ll make sure you’re supported and briefed before you start.
Will I receive training or guidance?
Yes.
You’ll always receive a clear briefing before any activity, and you’ll never be expected to figure things out on your own. There will always be a named point of contact on the day, and tasks will be explained clearly.
How much time do I need to commit?
That’s flexible.
Some roles are show-day specific, while others take place in the lead-up to performances. You can volunteer as often or as occasionally as suits you — we’ll work around your availability wherever possible.
Can I try more than one role?
Definitely.
You’re very welcome to explore different areas — for example, front-of-house for one show and creative support for another. Many volunteers enjoy mixing things up.
What if I’m nervous or not sure I’m “the right fit”?
That’s completely normal — and very welcome here.
You don’t need to be confident, outgoing, or knowledgeable about theatre to volunteer with us. We’ll help you find a role that feels comfortable and supportive.
Will I be volunteering on my own?
No.
You’ll always be part of a team, and in roles where it’s important (such as outreach or flyering), you’ll never be asked to work alone.
Are the roles accessible?
We aim to make our volunteering opportunities as accessible as possible.
If you have access needs, concerns about physical tasks, or questions about what a role involves, we’re very happy to talk things through and make adjustments where we can.
How do I get involved?
Simply register your interest and we’ll be in touch.
You don’t need to know exactly which role you want — a conversation is a great place to start.
